Tuesday Morning Topline: PG&E Submits Incident Report Pertaining to Old Fire

-

  • It’s like the 19th election day so far this year (and it’s only June!), and in this one San Franciscans are voting whether or not to recall our district attorney one year before he’d be up for reelection anyway. DA Chesa Boudin is doing some last-minute get-out-the-vote events, but this will be a decisive day for his near-term career as a prosecutor. [KTVU]
  • Today is also a primary day for the Bay Area’s first election for an open congressional seat in many years. Rep. Jackie Speier announced her retirement earlier this year, and there’s been little polling to suggest who’s a front-runner to take her seat. [Chronicle]
  • Police in Oakland are investigating two fatal shootings that happened about an hour apart in East Oakland Monday night. In one shooting on MacArthur Boulevard, a 36-year-old San Leandro man was killed and his 34-year-old wife was injured; in the other shooting a 38-year-old man was killed in a home on Novelda Drive. [CBS SF]
  • CalFire has suggested that PG&E equipment could be responsible for the spark that started the Old Fire last week in Napa, and PG&E has now submitted an incident report about something that happened in the area where the fire began. [KRON4]
  • PG&E has just installed a 182.5-megawatt Tesla Megapack battery energy storage system at its Moss Landing substation in Monterey County, one of the first examples of a substation using one of these batteries to store solar energy for use in the broader grid when it’s needed. [CBS SF]
  • Bay Area burger chefs who are fans of the Shake Shake-approved potato buns made by Martin’s Famous Pastry Shoppe in Chambersburg, PA, are seeking out alternative buns after learning that the Martin family has been financially backing state Sen. Doug Mastriano, the pro-Trump, QAnon-obsessed Republican candidate for governor. [Chronicle]
